Cultural Awareness in the Workplace

It is essential that any company in today’s world takes time to learn about the cultures of their workers so that everyone feels respected and understood. Creating a workspace that is inclusive creates better work outcomes for the company.  At Our World, Our Family we promote the idea that the best way to create a safe and productive work environment is to be conscience of the cultural similarities and differences among our workers and encourage everyone to be flexible with how tasks are being approached. This course outlines what cultural awareness is and the aspects of a person's culture that inform behavior. In addition, it goes over how being more culturally aware can benefit companies. Finally, it goes over practical ways to bring more cultural understanding to a company. There are interactions, scenarios, knowledge checks and a final quiz included.

Conducting an Effective Interview

Companies want to be able to hire employees who are both capable of doing the job and a good fit, in terms of personality. The best way to ensure that a company gets the most qualified employees is by making sure that interviews are being conducted the right way. It is the hope that, with some training, hiring managers will conduct more effective interviews that will lead to the best candidates being offered jobs. This training goes over the seven key steps for an effective interview. It also provides interactions, and different branching scenarios that allow the learner to test their knowledge of those key steps. There is also an assessment at the end.

Open and Close Accordion Interaction

When I was working on my training, Cultural Awareness in the Workplace, I had an additional slide that didn't make it into the final course. This slide is an example of an Open and Close Accordion Interaction using Storyline 360. The reason why it didn't make it into the final draft of the course was to shorten the overall length, and also because the learners would not need the extra information provided based on what the objectives of the course were.

I wanted to include the slide here to show that I am able to do some of the more complex interactions in Storyline 360.
